Searching for a guitar is becoming a very lengthy process.
I've encountered three candidates so far. One is a Singaporean brand, going for RM1,000+. It wasn't very well maintained--its pickguard had a dent and its wood appeared really dull and its wood lines looked funny as though they were warped a little. However it sounded rounded at all ranges and was able to take the harsher jabs and carry it very well.
Hock Man's Dean was very well maintain and very good-looking, going at RM800. Cutaway, white-lacquered edgings, a vibrant mother of pearl soundhole edging, feisty looking saddle, almost brand new headstock. But it was lacking in everything else: Sound. It was hollow and unstable, the mid range outshone the bass and treble and it was just so awful sounding. =( How could such a good-looking guitar sound so bad? =(
While waiting for Guitar Right, I'm thinking of fitting in a pick up and purchasing one of those pedals that Hock Man was mentioning to improve the sound, if necessary.
And of course, Jeff's Maton is out of my league. And Adrian is not going to part with his Norman.
:\ so tough!
